Independent audits for more food safety

The QS scheme defines strict, traceable requirements for a transparent and reliable quality assurance scheme. The requirements are applied to the stages of the food production chain - from farm to shop.

The certification bodies' task is to carry out the initial audit at companies in the agricultural and food industry, as well as at food retailers, prior to their acceptance in the QS scheme. In addition, the certification bodies also carry out regular neutral audits at the scheme participants in order to monitor the compliance with QS requirements. For details see the guideline certification.

In the audit, production and marketing processes are examined. If weak points are revealed, appropriate corrective measures, if necessary, can be taken.

Certification bodies in the QS scheme are independent, objective guarantors of the compliance with the scheme's quality assurance requirements. They, along with their staff and auditors, form an important link between Qualität und Sicherheit GmbH and QS's economic partners and also act as ambassadors for the aims of the QS scheme.
