The production and marketing of meat and meat products is a complex and multi-stage process which involves a number of companies. Starting with the manufacture of animal feed and progressing to agriculture, slaughter and deboning, as well as processing and finally food retailers. They all come together to form a chain of processes which require cross-stage cooperation.
Thus, the uppermost aim of QS is to integrate all participating companies in the quality and safety system. Each individual production and processing stage is of equal significance. Each individual element is important.
