International mutual recognitions

QS knows no borders. In their attempts to ensure further European development of standards in the documentation and monitoring of the production of foodstuffs, QS puts an emphasis on international integration and cooperation.

Thus, the QS system is open to all foreign companies that observe the specified criteria and subject themselves to the QS monitoring system.

IFSA - Audit recognition for individual animal feed manufacturers

An important step towards the harmonisation in the individual animal feed manufacturing sector is the foundation of the International Feed Safety Alliance (IFSA). This is a community of standard owners in Germany (QS), Holland (PDV), Belgium (Ovocom/Bemefa), Great Britain (AIC) and the European community of animal feed manufacturers (FEFAC).

With the introduction of the international individual animal feed standard IFIS, the IFSA makes a considerable contribution to the worldwide harmonisation of the quality assurance of individual animal feeds.

PDV - Audit recognition for individual and mixed animal feed manufacturers

QS and PDV have agreed upon a mutual audit recognition for the GMP+ (B1) and QS audits as carried out at the manufacturers of individual and mixed animal feeds. The main purpose of the mutual recognition process is to avoid double audits and the additional costs that both the businesses and the feed safety would suffer across borders.

More information regarding the recognition with PDV can be found in the working document for the Animal feed industry guideline.

AIC - Audit recognition for individual and mixed animal feeds, trading, transportation, storage and handling

QS and the British Agricultural Industries Confederation (AIC) have agreed a mutual recognition of their audits in the animal feed sector. This further significant worldwide quality assurance of the European animal feed sector makes an important step towards the efficient coordination and further harmonisation in the animal feed safety in a global market.

The mutual recognition applies both to the mixed and individual animal feed manufacture as well as the trading, transportation and storage/handling of animal feed.

More information regarding the recognition with the AIC can be found in the working document for the Animal feed industry guideline.

Ovocom/Bemefa - Audit recognition for individual and mixed animal feeds, trading, transportation, storage and handling

QS and the Belgian standard owner Ovocom vzw and Bemefa have expanded their mutual recognition in the animal feed sector: Alongside the mutual recognition of audits for animal feed manufacture that has been in place since 2005, the certifications for trade, transportation as well as storage and handling of animal feed are also mutually accepted. The aim of this recognition is to set the standards for an international harmonisation of quality assurance.

More information regarding the recognition with Ovocom vzw and Bemefa can be found in the working document for the Animal feed industry guideline.

AMA - Audit recognition for mixed animal feed manufacturers

QS and Agrarmarkt Austria Marketing GesmbH (AMA) made a significant step in 2007 towards the harmonisation of quality assurance in the European animal feed sector with an agreement on mutual audit recognition in the mixed animal feed sector.

As a result, mixed animal manufacturers who are certified in accordance with QS or who meet the requirements of the Pastus+ Austria animal feed guideline are able to supply to the relevant other system. Both the audit recognition between QS and AMA and the similar agreements with the Dutch Productschap Diervoeder (PDV) and the Belgian standard owner Ovocom/Bemefa go towards ensuring that double audits and the associated additional costs incurred by companies can be avoided.

More information regarding the recognition with the AMA can be found in the working document for the Animal feed industry guideline.

Mutual audit recognition between Qualimat Transport (France) and QS

With immediate effect the French standard owner Qualimat Transport and QS have a mutual audit recognition for the road transport of feeds. Qualimat Transport is a fusion of different feed producers in the northwest of France.

With immediate effect QS- as well as Qualimat-certified carriers of feeds can deliver in the respective other system without an additional audit. With this arrangement the goods traffic between the participants of both systems is relieved, as well as additional charges and time are avoided.

You can find further information about the mutual recognition with Qualimat in the work tool feed sector.
