New action levels
Last week the European Commission and the EU member states agreed on stricter action levels for radioactive contamination of foodstuffs and feedingstuffs. This was announced to the press by the German Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection.
The new regulation enters into force on April 13th, 2011. The new action levels take account of several EU regulations and relate to current action levels of iodine, plutonium and caesium. In some cases the values decreased sharply.
QS already informed its scheme participants and pointed out to be on the watch regarding food and feed imports from Japan.
