New chairmanship of the sanction board

As of 1 march 2012 Kurt Pillman, former president of the Bonn Regional Court, has taken over the chair of the QS sanction board. He replaces Wilbert Knickenberg, who held this position since 2003, shortly after the foundation of the QS scheme. Additionally Dr. Friedhelm Adam was appointed to the sanction board as further expert for the agricultural sector.

On 8 march 2012 the sanction board will meet for the first time in its new composition. It will be the 36. sanction board meeting since the foundation of the QS scheme.

The sanction board is called upon, if scheme participants violate the requirements of the QS scheme. As an independent and neutral committee, the sanction board may impose sanctions against scheme participants in order to penalize infringements. It is composed of a judge, a lawyer and at least one independent expert for the supply chains meat and meat products an fruit, vegetables and potatoes.
