Laboratory performance assessment 2022/1: need for optimization identified

19 07 31 QS Laborkompetenztest

The results of the first performance assessment in 2022 are available. There is a need for improvement in the analysis of relevant metabolites. The QS requirement to screen certain single-method active substances in the multimethod was not always consistently carried out by the laboratories. However, the results also clearly show that the majority of the recognized laboratories (81%) can demonstrate good analytical results and have thus passed the test.

90 laboratories from 17 countries participated in the first performance assessment of the year 2022 in residue monitoring for fruit, vegetables and potatoes. In addition to 72 recognized laboratories, the participants included another 17 laboratories in the recognition process as well as one third-party laboratory whose participation was voluntary and without application for QS recognition.

58 of the 72 recognized laboratories passed the performance assessment. 36 laboratories passed the assessment without any faults, including 32 recognized laboratories. The voluntarily participating third laboratory also completed the assessment without complaint. However, 14 recognized laboratories and a further eleven laboratories in the recognition process failed the current test. These laboratories will be asked to provide individual statements on the causes and, if necessary, measures to correct the errors. In addition, the laboratories must prove themselves again in the next assessment.
