QS-Report Meat and Meat Products (issue 01/2019)
Since April of this year, the big ones
of the German food retail trade have been labeling their meat according to the uniform four-level farming system labelling Haltungsform
. For level 1 Stallhaltung
(sty farming), it is required to have the approval in the QS scheme - compliance with legal minimum standards is therefore not sufficient. Lidl has also transferred its farming system labelling introduced in 2018 into the common system. We talked to Christof Mross, Lidl's Food Purchasing Manager, about the new labelling and the company's animal welfare objectives.
Our spring issue also includes a supplement with exciting facts and figures on scheme participants, audits, sanction procedures and monitoring programmes for the year 2018. The main focus this time is on the number of audits carried out and the most frequent irregularities that have led to sanction procedures.
