Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

The collection, documentation and feedback of diagnostic data during slaughter, as well as the antibiotics and salmonella monitoring, are important instruments in the QS scheme for assessing animal health and thus making a decisive contribution to animal welfare and food safety.

For the joint project PPP-Infos with the University of Veterinary Medicine Hanover and the BALVI GmbH, QS prepared and contributed the data from the monitoring programmes and the recording of diagnostic data. The aim of the funding project was to combine official and economic data from the entire pig production chain in terms of content and technology in order to identify optimisation possibilities in animal husbandry and to use these to improve animal health and animal welfare. In this issue of the QS-Report we report in detail.
