Slaughtering and deboning

Slaughtering and deboning businesses in the QS scheme constitute the interface to the agricultural sector. They therefore focus in equal measure on food safety and animal welfare. They ensure that the animals are slaughtered responsibly and that the highest standards of hygiene are observed in the deboning process.

QS supports the businesses in this endeavour by defining coordinated and practice-oriented requirements that are summarized in well-structured guidelines and checklists. Qualified auditors from independent certification bodies monitor whether and how the requirements are fulfilled.
